I got up at 5am on a Sunday to catch the first light by the local lake. Actually I got there a bit late, and because of a last minute decision to change location I had to run a couple of minutes not to miss the sunrise. Also because of that I didn't have the time to experiment with manual settings, and ended up shooting in automatic mode. Nonetheless I'm quite pleased with the results.
I made a quick adjustment to the photo in Picasa2, and found the 'Graded Color' (Gradert Fargetone) in the effects section to be very useful in adjusting the colors of the sky.
